COLLEGE TUTORIAL PROGRAM
What is the College Tutorial Program?
The College Tutorial Program aims to foster a collaborative & communal academic culture, encouraging residents to take ownership of their education & success at university.
Tutorials are led by older residents who have demonstrated a high degree of achievement or proficiency in a particular unit or intellectual discipline/subject.
All residents can request tutorials, however the units that will be allocated a Tutorial, are reliant on a range of factors e.g. the level of demand (i.e. # of requests & enrolments), relevant difficulty and availability of suitable Tutor candidates.
-
The Tutorial Program is not designed to “teach” you the unit material. You are expected to attend your university classes and do what you can on your own. College tutorials can then compliment your studies by giving you a chance to review and clarify points with your tutor.
-
Typically, Tutors are expected to make themselves available 1 hour per week by hosting a Tutorial Session.
Residents attending the tutorial are expected to come prepared.
i.e. being up to date with current coursework and/or having a good idea of which specific concepts/assessment pieces they are struggling with or have questions/concerns relating to.
-
Unfortunately, there are limits to the number of units that will be allocated a tutor. This is dependent on demand/number of enrolments and also supply of tutors among other factors.
-
If you are a second year university student or above and can prove a high degree of proficiency you may be eligible. Enquire with Christiaan if you’re interested.
