Leadership Opportunities
Living at St George’s comes with many leadership opportunities for residents, not only within college itself, but also in the broader community.
This year, the executive of UWA Guild’s Residential Student’s Department (RSD) is made up entirely of Georgians, who have been working hard all year to give College row residents the best experience possible. The team consists of India Creed, President; Sarah Taylor, Vice President; and myself Alice Ward, General Secretary. We oversee all Inter College events, with help from the RSD committee which involves members of every college.
The biggest IC event of the year, the RSD Ball, was held on the 20th of May, and saw college row dancing the night away at a Secret Garden themed event on UWA’s Oak Lawn. A highlight of the night was the live performances from the St George’s a cappella groups, the Mockingbirds and Newby Blues, as well as some amazing DJing from other college row residents.
Sarah, Vice President, said that her favorite part of the RSD ball was “seeing George’s residents amongst other Colleges in a new, carefree environment”. She said that “it’s nights like the RSD ball that you can see everyone has such pride being from St George’s, and will always support and look out for one another.” This reflection really highlights the Georgian spirit, and how special experiences like this are for the College community.
